Domaine La Madura Saint-Chinian Classic 2017

La Madura is located in the appellation of Saint -Chinian in the western Languedoc region of France.  Purchased in 1998, wife and husband duo Nadia and Cyril Bourgne run the small estate that produces some of the most beautiful terroir driven wines of the region.  Their intensity and depth can be credited to the variety of the terroir, elevation (they have plots anywhere from 15-300 m ), and the fact that grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, at different times.

The following wine is a blend of Carignan (39%), Grenache (30%), Mourvèdre (16%),and Syrah (15%).  This red gives notes of ripe blackberry, cherries with incredible sweet spice and earth.  Lots of crunchy red fruit, and raspy tannins with an incredible freshness that carries the wine to a very long and satisfying finish.  Excellent texture, ripe with medium acidity keeping it well structured with lots of depth and power.  Perfect winter red.
